Birdtail Waterfowl has a new location for this coming 2013 season. Why did we move? To help complete the premier Manitoba waterfowl hunting experience. Our new property is located in our prime waterfowling area. We have been outfitting world class waterfowl hunts for over fourteen years, now. One evening, one of our guides brought out the calculator and came up with the number of acres we scout - we calculated to over 1.2 million!
Needless to say, as proof of our famous fuel bills, we know our backyard well. With all the miles we travel, our new location is one of the most scenic sites that we have ever seen. The minute we drove up, we saw the potential of the property.
I have been involved with the Resource Tourism Industry for a while now and it’s time our accommodations match our hunts – first class and world class!! The best way to describe it, is to call it a "Waterfowlers Disneyland"!
Our property is located on the edge of the famous Prairie Potholes and the Pre-Boreal Region. The area is loaded with large deep lakes, mixed in with thousands of potholes. We produce grand slam waterfowl hunts in the fields, potholes and now amazing diver hunts - look out! The diver hunts are new to us, but we have drooled for years, when driving by water bodies with 5000 plus bluebills, red heads and canvasbacks. We have built welded blinds on our own lake, just a few hundred yards away and look forward to expanding into untouched water bodies.
The five acre property is surrounded on two sides with beautiful Spruce trees and has scenery that will stop you in your tracks! Our new lodge is tucked under a set of giant Spruce trees and has a spectacular view of the entire property. The encompassing woods, hold elk, whitetail, bear, wolf and coyotes. The property is gated, under security and enclosed with a page wire fence to keep our working dogs in and the wildlife close by!
Birdtail Waterfowl believes in preserving the opportunity to hunt and fish in Manitoba. Being the President of the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association it is important to me to contribute to the Hunter and Angler Preservation Fund every way I can.
The HAPF fund is new to the Province of Manitoba and has been proven to be successful in other regions of Canada. As of 2011 all our guests will be members of the HAPF by making a donation. The donation fee associated with joining the HAPF making you a member will be covered by Birdtail Waterfowl.
